Wesley Earl Craven was an American film director, writer, producer, and actor. He was known for his pioneering work in the genre of horror films, particularly slasher films, where he mixed horror cliches with humor and satire. His impact on the genre was considered prolific and influential. Due to the success and cultural impact of his works in the horror film genre, Craven has been called a “Master of Horror”. He is best known for creating A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, featuring the characters of Freddy Krueger, Nancy Thompson, Ghostface, and Sidney Prescott. About Wes Craven

Director who introduced the world to the terrifying Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series and redefined the horror genre with his semi-satirical horror/comedy Scream films. He also directed the horror films The Hills Have Eyes, The Last House on the Left, Red Eye, and Wes Craven’s New Nightmare.
