About John Ralston

Legendary football coach who led Utah State to several Skyline Conference championships and turned around a struggling Stanford team.

Before Fame

He played linebacker at Cal in the late 1940s, becoming the team’s assistant coach in the 1950s.


Taking over Stanford in 1963, he led the team to back-to-back Rose Bowl victories against undefeated Ohio State and Michigan.

Family Life

He was born in Oakland, California.


John Cooper was another Pac-10 Conference College Football Hall of Fame coach.
