He studied in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Austria during the turbulent World War I years.
His family lived in Luxembourg City’s Pfaffenthal District at the time of his birth.
His late-career artistic style mixed elements of Expressionism and Fauvism. The latter was an artistic movement led by Henri Matisse.
